[Request a Bike Safety Program]

We register bicycles to deter theft and help return them when recovered, but we also promote bike safety in Garner.  In 2001, North Carolina passed a bike helmet law making it illegal for those under 16 years of age to ride a bicycle without an approved helmet.  That year, we distributed over 200 helmets to needy children in Garner.  Officers can set up a bike safety clinic at your event to inspect bikes and make simple repairs, register those bikes in our computer database, and to help children properly fit and wear their bike helmet.
