Public Works
PUBLIC GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER – SEASONAL – STARTING PAY RATE $10.49 PER HOUR.
Work as part of a team performing various manual and semi-skilled tasks in the care and maintenance of Town parks, athletic fields, landscaped areas, street right-of-ways and other Town facilities. Work schedule is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday. This seasonal position has historically concluded in mid-November. Must be familiar with tools, equipment and materials used in grounds maintenance and have a general knowledge of horticulture and landscaping. Must be able to understand and employ standard safety procedures, follow written and oral instructions, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A valid North Carolina driver’s license and good driving record are required. Final candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check and pre-employment drug test. Position open until filled.

Parks and Recreation
FACILITY ATTENDANT – AVERY STREET RECREATION CENTER – SUPPLEMENTAL (3-15 HOURS PER WEEK) – STARTING PAY RATE $9.04 PER HOUR DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
Seeking responsible, motivated individuals with sports activities experience to supervise athletic events at the Avery Street Recreation Center, North Garner Middle School and local ball fields. Facility Attendants prepare the building/field for use, ensure services, supplies and equipment are available for the comfort and safety of participants, monitor compliance with Town policies, and follow established procedures at the conclusion of the event. Must be able to effectively interact with scorekeepers, spectators, participants, coaches and referees. Activities are scheduled on Monday-Friday evenings and weekends. Position open until filled.


Parks and Recreation
RECREATION LEADER – YOUTH PROGRAMS – SUPPLEMENTAL (6-12 HOURS PER WEEK) - STARTING PAY RATE $8.22 PER HOUR.
Seeking energetic leaders to supervise and mentor school-aged children (grades K-12) weekdays, 2:15 - 5:30 PM at the Avery Street Recreation Center. Recreation Leaders may also assist with preschool and other youth athletic and arts programs. Weekday and Saturday availability preferred. High school diploma or equivalent and prior experience working with children desired. Position open until filled.
